Some time ago (2-3 yrs) I was lucky enough to get a tour of the WDW underground facility (under sleeping beauty's castle). As I recall (this was before I was truly computer enlightened), they were running data general hardware. Two systems running synchronously via some sort of time code. One system handled cost accounting and scheduling(?), while the other interfaced to various secondary systems (like multi-track audio tape machines, cartridge tape machines, etc) and ran the rides, and other "features" within the park. As I recall, the systems were capable of knowing which rides were contributing what to the overall park revenues, and which rides wern't producing up to snuff. Additionally, if a ride malfunctioned, (of course...) the system summoned maintenance in jig time. None of this was true for the Anaheim park, which was more or less the prototype for the Orlando facility. Much of the Anaheim park ran on puhched tape and multi-track instrumentation recorders. Of course, by now, this could have all changed. I was flashed out, severely! Rick Chinn John Fluke Mfg.
