I certainly hope this topic hasn't been discussed to death. I've been off the net for a while, and can only go back 10 articles or so. Anyway, I am looking for an *external* 1.4 3.5 inch disk drive to attach to my AT system (IMS 10 mhz 286). I've spent all evening reading the PC Magazines to no avail. We've got to do something, as two of our clients have PS/2s, and the small disk drives are the only reasonable way to communicate with their systems. The drive must be external as the system is full up with tape drives, hard disks, and a 1.2 meg drive. An alternative might be to get an external 1.2 meg drive and an internal 1.4 meg 3.5" drive, but the same questions still apply: Questions: 1. Do you know where/how/from whom to buy such a critter? 2. Do I need a new controller card, or will the generic floppy controller work? 3. What version of MS-DOS is required to read & write to the beast? 4. Does Microport or SCO support such floppy disk drives? 5. Can 1.4 meg drives also read/write .7 meg format? Please send me mail, and a summary will be posted to the network. -- ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ If you think the 80286 is brain } Robert White { damaged, you ought to check out the } ihnp4!upba!qetzal!rcw { Colorado State Legislature - me ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
