I know this may sound sick, but has anyone tried installing OS/2 and DOS 3.3 on one hard drive. I will be getting an 80 meg drive after July 1 and need to have access to both operating systems. I would like to create a bootable partition for each and then make the one active that I wish to use. I do not use os/2 very often but still would like to have access to it. (I boot from a floppy now but it is slow) I know it can be done for DOS and Unix etc, but the docs are a little sparse in this area. -- Bill Wilson (Bitnet: ucc2wew@nauvm) Northern AZ Univ Flagstaff, AZ 86011 {These views are mine and do not necessarily reflect those of my employer}

I seem to remember reading on one of the thousands of pages that come with the OS/2 SDK that switching active partitions don't work with OS/2 (I could be remembering something from a pre-release 1.0 version though). Here at MICOM-Interlan we are using the SDK's duel boot mode. When you boot you are prompted to type ESC for DOS and ENTER for OS/2. Both systems use the same disk formats and get along quite well running in the same partitions. Lacking the duel boot SDK, I suggest installing OS/2 on the hard disk and booting DOS from a floppy. If done right, the floppy need only have DOS CONFIG.SYS and AUTOEXEC.BAT on it. Any device drivers as well as COMMAND.COM can be loaded from the hard disk. This arrangement allows both DOS and OS/2 to boot quickly. Mike Deem Disclamer: I said it, not some old company!!!!
