As a relatively new participant in the MS-DOS I need to know if there is any way to discombobulate the copy command. Would it be in command.com? Would a change of name in the appropriate program act as a stopper? Any suggestions? Apreciated, Bob

Why would you want to stop the copy command? That would make the PC pretty
useless, in some cases. Are you afraid that someone is going to steal some
programs/files?
In any event, the copy command is part of COMMAND.COM and that program must
be changed. You will also need to rename/remove the XCOPY command, if you
are running a DOS version that has it.
But, you must remember that removing the copy command isn't going to stop
someone from copying a file if they really want it. One can reboot the
computer using a different DOS diskette or one could write a simple BASIC
program that reads in the file and writes it back out as the name wanted,
onto a different device. It is too simple to get around what you want
to do that it just isn't worth it. If you have a problem, training is what
is needed.
