[comp.sys.ibm.pc] point of sales device inquiry

I am interested in information about point of sales devices to be
driven off an AT clone.  I have seen devices in some PC magazines
for a card that drives a cash draw with some having option of adding
a bar code reader.  A company called MicroBiz advertised drawer, board,
and software for ~ $500.  Is this what one should expect to pay?
Is there any devices on the market that are more like actual cash
registers (ie. has its own keypad and small display) that could send
and receive info. from the HD on the AT?

Any helpful info., past experiences, article references would be
greatly appreciated.
