[comp.sys.ibm.pc] 8087-2 for turbo XT clone?

emuroga@m.cs.uiuc.edu (07/23/88)

   For an XT clone with a "turbo" speedup mode, is it necessary to buy the
faster 8087-2 rather than the regular 8087?

Probably, but maybe not. One hopes that when the 8088 gets cranked up,
so does the 8087. This may or may not be the case. Only the folks who
made the box know for sure. (I hope the folks who *sold* the box know,
or can find out!)

8087 == 8087-3 == 5 MHz >= 4.77 MHz; 8087-2 == 8 Mhz; 8087-1 == 10 MHz
