I recently bought an AST RamPage 2 Plus for an PC/XT compatible machine. Since I got my board I had to change it three times at the distributor and still I can't use it to my satisfaction. The first board I got came with an automatic configuration program called the Switch. This program when run was supposed to configure the board to the right I/O port address , to use part of the on board memory to fill the main pc memory up to 640K etc. In short, when run, the program claimed that there is no board installed and therefore it has nothing to configure. Back went the board to the distributor and in came a new one. That one was known to the program at first, and it automatically configured it as I thought it will. Then after no more that half an hour of simple operation running DesqVidew 2 I had to reboot and there was the end of the second board in operation. Again trying to reconfigure the board eighther manually or automatically ended saying there is not a single board in sight - vanished. The local distributor keeps replacing the boards as if they know that there is a good reason to do so but the third was no different from the second board - 15 minutes of happy EEMS-ing and - pooff - it looks as if it has a reboot counter or somthing and after a while it simply forget one of it's configuration parameters - for good. Has anyone on the net experienced these simptoms with that product? Is there a qure? Maybe I am to blame, or my PC ( which is a simple clone running Phoenix bios ). Help.
