There was a brief bit of traffic on the net about a month ago, concernibg the ability to toggle Numlock from software. It seems that it's quite safe to change the state of the NumLock bit in the keyboard status byte (0:417), though I didn't catch all the comments as our news system here is a bit flakey. On an XT, I believe the 'Numlock' lamp on the keyboard is controlled by the keyboard controller directly, so if you fiddle with the status byte, the light will not match. However, on an AT, it seems to be lit by software action. For instance, 'Sidekick' does it when you invoke 'calculator' mode. Can anyone tell me how to do this please? I believe you run an 'out' command to port 61 (or 62 or 63), but I don't know the details.
