[comp.sys.ibm.pc] Another RS-232 story

The most extreme break-the-rules installation that I know of connected a
basement computer room to an 11th floor office complex, apx. 25 lines'
worth, with an apx. 1500 foot run: from basement, under a street, and up
an elevator shaft before fanning out across a dropped ceiling to individual
offices. Used with success, most lines at 9600 baud, for 10 years before
being replaced with an ethernet configuration.
