(The wheelbarrow, as you know, has been in use for centuries.) The patent application was for "Handle for wheelbarrow". When the patent was granted, the inventor was amazed--and gratified--to find that he had a patent for "Wheelbarrow and handle thereof". I can't find a good newsgroup to direct followups to.
