I am about to purchase a 286 or 386 clone and have noticed what appear to be reasonable deals. In particular, the following offers are of interest. Does anyone in netland have any experience with or comments about them: 1. Zeos International: St. Paul, Minn. 12MHz AT ~$1299 (512kB RAM, 32MB HD, mono monitor) 2. Clone Computers: Dallas, TX 10MHz AT ~$1599 (1MB RAM, 40MB HD, mono monitor) 3. Fivestar Computers: Dallas (?), TX 10MHz AT ~$1795 (640kB RAM, 20MB HD, mono monitor) 4. Micro Smart: Ashland, MA 10MHz AT ~$1499 (512kB RAM, 40MB HD, mono monitor) Although I have only indicated AT machines, I am also open to comments on 386 machines although money is a consideration. I would even consider assembling a unit myself, if reliable motherboards etc. are available. Thanks in advance, -Graham Brand { brand@janus.berkeley.edu} { ...!ucbvax!ucbjanus.berkeley.edu!brand}

regarding your request on purchasing a 286 system: I just got my new 286 from Computer Direct.. Prices good, but delivery was screwed up... they have been around for some time and they have a good reputation. i got: 286 12 Mhz 0 wait 512k EGA (Thompson Monitor) 2400 baud modem $1670 - not bad I went ahead and ordered the 1 meg upgrade from BG Micro since they had the best price on chips. 386 is nice, but most people really dont have a need for one - thrills...
