I've been reading the messages on here concerning replacement
batteries for the AT. I ran across an ad in the recent issue of
Electronic Design for a battery pack called the "bAT". This is a small
cube, 2-3/8 by 2-3/8 by 1 in. It is a rechargeable battery pack
that will retain your CMOS for 12-months with the power off. While
the machine is turned on, it recharges the pack. The pack itself
has an expected lifetime of 10 years. The cube has a receptical
to accept a power supply cable as well as a power supply-like pigtail
to provide power for your disk. It also comes with double-sided sticky
tape to adhere the pack to the power supply cabinet.
While I've never used this unit, it looks like a real nice
replacement. The show the list as $39.95. Available from:
Compu-Tech Products Inc.
720 Garden of the Gods Rd.
Colorado Springs, CO 80907
(719) 528-1800
I have no connection with this company. Am mearly relaying
some potentially useful info.
