Hi! i'm posting this for a friend of mine. I know nothing about Tandy's, but he has a Tandy 1000tx and wants to add a 5.25" drive to it. Currently he has two 3.25" drives. He said a salesman at Radio Shack said he would have to remove one of the 3.25" drives. Is this true? Can he find a 3rd party vendor that will add a 5.25" drive similar to the way that the IBM PS/2 will? But then I seem to remember someone saying the PS/2 can only have two drives maximum as well. Respond direct to me and i will summarize if there is any response:-) Thanks, Thom

The disk controller in the PS-2 can only support two floppy disk drives.
If you have a 5.25" drive, you (temporarily or permanently, depending on
how they're connected) lose the use of one 3.5" drive.
I don't have any idea what kind of floppy disk controller is used in the
Tandy, but it's certainly possible that it can only accomodate two
drives. The standard IBM PC/XT type floppy disk controller can handle
up to four.

As an alternative, your friend can buy a Micro Solutions Compaticard
for $ 125 and add two more floppy disk drives in addition to the standard
ones. The two additional drives can be 5.25", 3.5", or 8" (in any
standard SD, DD, or HD configuration).
