The Microcomputer Users Group for Libraries in North Carolina (MUGLNC) and
the North Carolina Educational Computing Service (NCECS) have recently
begun encouraging library professionals to use the UNIX-based electronic
conferencing system which is managed locally by NCECS. We would like to
determine if there are non-North Carolina users who might be interested
in participating in such a project. We have begun a "libsci" newsgroup
which is received by local users, and use the electronic mail facilities
for such things as sending newsletter articles, making appointments,
troubleshooting problems, etc. We expect the system also to be used
for interlibrary loan requests in the near future.
If you are a librarian or have interests in library operations,
please let us know if you would like to communicate with North
Carolina users.
Also, please pass this information on to anyone who might be interested.
As in all groups, the more people participating, the more useful
the service.
We will use the number of people responding as a guideline for
deciding whether the "libsci" newsgroup should be expanded beyond
local reach.
