Has anyone found a PC clone that procomm plus won't run on? We have an
NEC multispeed HD with procomm on it that seems sorta sick. About 1 time
in 4 it hangs during initialization after invoking the program. When you
try an xmodem upload it hangs when it's done. If you abort the upload it
sits there blinking 'aborted' at you all day. By hangs I mean ctrl-alt-del
is needed to get it back.
I tried re-installing procomm from a different disk and it was even worse.
Anybody else had any problems like this? I should add I've used procomm
2.4.2, pcplus test drive, pcplus v1.1, and pcplus v1.1a on IBM's, AT's,
Grid laptops, Nec Multispeed laptops (about 2 years old with no hard disk),
Compaqs of all flavors, and a Leading Edge with absolutely no problems
whatsoever.
The failing configuration is an NEC Multispeed HD with Pheonix ROM BIOS
V2.51. I've tried both version 1.1 and 1.1a of procomm plus with both
failing. It would probably be best if you either respond by email or
move this to alt.flame "-).

disclaimer: As my boss brought the affected marketing weenie to my cube,
introduced me as the resident PC and Procomm wizard, and asked me to fix
