I have been compiling a long list of error codes from the IBM
machines, here it is...
This is a listing of the error codes for the IBM PC.

3xx Keyboard errors.
301 Keyboard did not respond to software reset correctly, or a stuck
key failure was detected. If a stuck key was detected, the
scan code for the key is dis- played in hexadecimal. For
example, the error code 49 301 indicates that key 73, the
PgUp key, has failed (49 hex = 73 decimal).
302 User-indicated error from the keyboard test, or AT keylock
is locked.
303 Keyboard or system unit error.
304 Keyboard or system unit error; CMOS does not match system.
4xx Monochrome monitor errors.
401 Monochrome memory test, horizontal sync frequency test, or video
test failed.
408 User indicated display attributes failure.
416 User indicated character set failure.
424 User indicated 80X25 mode failure.
432 Parallel port test failed ( monochrome adapter ).
5xx Color monitor errors.
501 Color memory test failed, horizontal sync frequency test, or
video test failed.
508 User indicated display attribute failure.

3yzz = 4th 64K bank (192-256K) 8yzz = 9th 64K bank (512-576K)
4yzz = 5th 64K bank (256-320K) 9yzz =10th 64K bank (576-640K)
The "zz" code gives the bad data bit (individual chip):
xy00 = parity bit xy10 = data bit 4
xy01 = data bit 0 xy20 = data bit 5
xy02 = data bit 1 xy40 = data bit 6
xy04 = data bit 2 xy80 = data bit 7
xy08 = data bit 3 xyAA = empty bank - check switches
xyFF = empty bank - check switches
For example, the error code 4810 201 would be interpreted:
4 = 5th 64K bank ( if the motherboard had 256K installed, then
the 5th bank is the first on an expansion board )
8 = don't care ( applies only to 16-64K PC-I motherboards )
10 = data bit 4 ( fifth chip after the parity chip )

All personal computer error codes for the diagnostic and advanced
diagnostic package are represented with the device number followed by
two
digits other than 00. The device number plus 00 represents successful
completion of the test.
