A recent article concerning computer viruses has been published in this past week's (September 26, 1988) TIME magazine. "Invasion of the Data Snatchers!", pp. 62-67. This is a good article, simply written, and easy to understand. It may even answer some of the recent queries sent to this newsgroup over the past couple months. --- Real Life: David M. The only problem with that article, I think, is that the author should distinguish the PC's from main frames. We can not just simply refer a PC's invasion as an whole computer society disaster. People should spend more money on workstations, instead of PCs, I believe. PC is for Personal Computing only. The virus thing is easy for any computer science student to design and implement on PCs but not as easy if it is a workstation with memory protection. -Ron Chen University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign rchen@cs.uiuc.edu
