I'm in the market for an IBM PC, XT, or AT, true-blue or compatible, and want a bargain obtainable from a reputable mail-order firm in the United States. What I want is to spend my whole wad of $1200 bucks and get the most for it. The basic necessities from my viewpoint are : 1) 4.77 mhz or better clock cycle. 2) 640k of 150ns or faster RAM, 1 serial & 1 parallel port. 3) Monochrome monitor. 4) Floppy controller & 2 Floppy Drives 5) 20mb Hard Disk or greater. 6) Printer (doesn't HAVE to be letter quality!) 7) DOS and Word Processing Software (more stuff is OK) 8) 1200 baud or faster modem. I'll only buy from a company that offers some kind of guarantee on the machines hardware, and would rather not buy from a private individual. What bargains are available? Who would you buy from? Please respond to me and I'll post a summary if interest is sufficient.
