We have just received our 20 MHz Model 70 from our school's Micro Resource Center. The machine itself works fine, but we have kind of a problem... The Model 70 has three micro-channel slots - 1 16-bit slot and 2 32-bit slots. We currently have an 8514/A installed in the 16-bit slot. However, we also ordered a 5.25" external drive w/adaptor card. They didn't have the adaptor card handy, so I'm waiting for another, but the picture in the installation guide looked like the 5.25" drive's adaptor card is also a 16-bit card. Maybe the "16-bit" slot is actually less bits, but it is physically a different shape, so from the look of it, you can't plug "16-bit" cards into the 32 bit slots - or can you? That's my question. Is there any way to get both the 8514/A and the 5.25" external adaptor working happily in the same Model 70? Please respond by e-mail. I try to keep up with this group, but there's only so many hours in the day ;-) Thanks in advance! +-------------------------------------+--------------------------------------+ | Joel J.
