[comp.sys.ibm.pc] Windows 2.03 and standard applications

rmckinst@hstbme.mit.edu (Robert McKinstry) (11/01/88)

I upgraded to MS Windows 2.03 earlier this year. I have been unable to
run standard applications in Windows because I loose control of my Logitech
serial 3 button mouse when I return to the Windows environment.

My hardware configuration:
	PC/XT Turbo Clone (4.77 & 8MHz)
	640Kb RAM
Hayes 1200b compatible modem (internal) on COM2
Logitech 3 button Serial Mouse on COM1
	(20MB HD, HERC etc..)

When I create a PIF file, I usually set the (modifies com2 option) when
using communications packages. Regardless when using Lotus 123 or
Epsilon( an emacs lookalike), which do not use the mouse or modem, I
loose control of my mouse on return, eventhough the PIF files do not
modify COM1 or COM2. ........Why??

I would appreciate any help or revelations about using Windows 2.03 on an 8088.
