OK. Onto another problem that has occured recently for me on my IBM. I just bought a color monitor from a guy I know for $75 (It's a BMC and they aren't too bad). Basically it's composite and I'm using a Tandon Monochrome/ Color adapter. I've got the adapter set for color adapter, color mode, and non-screen flicker (or fast throughput, however you want to put it). The problem is that it won't go into colors for some applications. I know the adapter and monitor are working correctly because it has full color in games like MS Flight Simulator, Jet, Alleycat, etc. However, when I run TurboC, QuickC, Wordperfect, Turbo Prolog and such it comes up in a grey mode that gives me really trashy characters that aren't readable. Now, I know I can fix the problem by going into bw80 mode, but I'd like to have color on my screen. Anybody have a clue why my applications don't seem to want to comply with this wish? Oh, and just for the record I went into TurboC and played around with the color setup and it was letting me choose reds, greens, etc. They just showed up as greys. One other interesting problem I encountered. When I ran Microsoft Flight Simulator I would choose the IBM PC keyboard. I couldn't get any views and everything was really messed up. I was thinking it was the fact that I have an enhanced keyboard. However, I went back in and chose the PC jr keyboard and it all worked perfectly. Strange, eh? -- Patrick A.
