I am helping my wife to set up PC's running 5250 emulation towards a IBM S/36 box. (Not my fault they they have one in her place of work!) The circuit board in the PC's is IBM's own board (at vast cost). I can get the whole thing working properly only on genuine IBM XT's, but it only works partially on the clone AT they are using. The terminal emulation works just fine, but when you try to start the router on the 36 (ie in preparation for setting up virtual printers disk etc), the communication breaks down. As I said all this works OK on the IBM XT. I have tried everything I can think of such as elimination all other stuff which might have conflicting interupts or addresses, using other versions of DOS, stopping the turbo mode on the AT etc etc. The only thing I havn't tried yet is to change the BIOS. The configuration is the same as I use for the XT which works, and the IBM manual says nothing about any differences between AT and XT's. If there is anyone out there who has made these things work, I hope you can send me a mail with some advice as to what might be going wrong? IBM here in Sweden have been quite helpful, despite the fact that we are using a clone AT, but they have not come up with anything helpful. Thanks in advance Mike Williams mike@erix.ericsson.se.UUCP
