In response to the request for a ray tracer for the PC: Ok, I will not mail it (because it is too large, and because of the pain it was to do all of those snail mail mailings I did last time). Nor can I offer it for FTP (because this site does not have it). BUT, I do have a copy of DBW Render (an old Amiga ray tracer) that was ported to the PC and a program that I wrote to convert the output to GIF files for viewing. If there is sufficient interest then I will post it (executable & source too), the source is especially interesting because of the texturing it can do. It isn't great overall but it is a place to start learning. There is another ray tracer I have gotten recently which the author claims has been ported to the PC as well as the Amiga. It is called QRT (for Quick Ray Tracer) and I am particularly impressed with it. However, unless I can get ahold of one of the already ported sources I'm going to have to do it myself in my "free time" (hA! ha! HA! Ha!!....). Expect that some time in 1990. So, send me mail if you are interested and if it seems justified to post it then I'll do it.
