[comp.sys.ibm.pc] Best OS/2 development system

amajidim@marketing.UUCP (Amir Majidimehr) (11/10/88)

I am thinking about doing some development work using OS/2 & Presentation
Manager and have the following questions:

1. Hardware:
What is the best (386) system to do developement on? I am worried about
compatibility of clones in areas of OS/2 support. How many machines besides
IBM PS/2 model 80 are good for this purpose? Compaq? Dell? Zenith?
I would like to keep the price of the system as low as I can!

2. How much memory (RAM) do I need for this system? I would like to get by
with minimum amount for now (because of high cost of DRAMs). Note that I
would need to run both OS/2 *and* Presentation Manager.

3. What is the minimum development system software? Does OS/2 development
kit from Microsoft contain OS/2 itself? If not, what are the prices for
all the pieces? Does Quick-C from Microsoft run under/support OS/2 (outside
of DOS compatibility box)? What are the prices?

4. How much disk storage is required for all the required software?

Thanks in advance!
