[comp.sys.ibm.pc] Monochrome card for PS/2 MCS?

yuval@humus.huji.ac.il (Yuval rakavy) (11/12/88)

I have just finished to develope a software named CATView which is used
to boradcast messages to cabel TV. This software is based on a multi-tasking
system which runs under DOS. The system operates with two video adapters:
one is the graphic adapter which generates the video, and the second is
the monochrome adapter which is connected to a screen through which the
operator can add or edit new messages.

Due to the use of a multi-tasking system, it is possible to edit or add
new messages without interrupting the normal transmission.

In addtion to editing, the message can be connected to Assocaited Press (AP)
news wire for receiving and broadcasting AP news bulletins.

The current version of the system works with EGA card and support NTSC and
PAL. I have now finsinhed to develop the software which allow me to generate
NTSC or PAL video signals from a VGA card.

I would like to run this system on a PS/2, so here are my questions (at last):

* Did any one tried the PS/2-30/286 (The 286 machine with the old AT bus)?

* Does any one know about a micro channel bus adapter for connecting an
additional monitor that can be operated in parallel to the built-in VGA?

Thanks (and sorry for my bad English...)

   Yuval

I don't have an answer for you about using two video cards in a PS/2, but
I'm dying to find out how you got a VGA to produce NTSC or PAL with mere
software (I may have to look further into these things at the register
level, after all). Please enlighten us!
