I have had a NEC Multisync Plus monitor on my AT-386 system for approximately 6 months. From day one, I noticed that the image suffered from pincushioning, as well as moderate fuzziness. Since that time, the image has become increasingly fuzzy, and the colors are horribly fringed at the corners and edges of the screen. In particular, the monitor's blue gun seems to be firing over two millimeters earlier than the red and green guns, and the red gun is firing one millimeter higher than the blue and green guns. My questions are these: 1) Is this problem an irreparable result of age? 2) If not, can I fix it by adjusting some internal potentiometers? 3) Or does it absolutely require a NEC service technician because of the need for diagnostic equipment of some kind? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Craig Chaiken Hartford Graduate Center Computing Services

We have been using 2 NEC Multisync+ monitors since June 88 and neither have suffered the problems that you describe. The one problem that the professor has with them is that the convergence is not quite perfect, close but not close enough. He likes to work in the graphics area so that makes him a little less than totaly pleased with them. The system we are using them with are Packard Bell 386 Supreme boxes and STB VGA Extra/EM video cards. -- Tim Smith North Dakota State University, Fargo, ND 58105 UUCP: ...!uunet!ndsuvax!ncsmith | 90% of the people on this planet BITNET: ncsmith@ndsuvax.bitnet | are crazy and the rest of us are INTERNET: ncsmith@plains.NoDak.edu | in grave danger of contamination

I bought a NEC Multisync II last month. It has the same problems Craig describes above. I too would be interesting in how to fix/resolve the sharpness and color offset problems.
