A couple of installation programs have had a problem recognizing my ST225 as a hard drive. The installation program for Sprint gave me a message that the media descriptor byte is non-standard or corrupted, while the GAMEDIR.COM program called by the Infocom hard drive install program doesn't return the appropriate errorlevel (2). It almost sounds like the Sprint installer either hit the nail on the head or gave a specific answer to a general problem. Other than these two encounters, there's been no problem. Does anybody know what could be the problem and if it needs to be changed, and how to change it? I'm running MS-DOS 3.10 and am going to eventually switch to 3.30 as soon as the semester dies down. Will this fix it? I would have no problem with going in and changing physical sectors now. ---------------------------------------- L. Haskins -- University of Illinois: lmhg0369@uxa.cso.uiuc.edu
