[comp.sys.ibm.pc] Converting Mac Excel spreadsheets to a PC-based spreadsheet

funkstr@ucscb.UCSC.EDU (-=/ Larry Hastings /=-) (12/02/88)

Our general manager here at MetaWare wishes to switch from his Mac to
a PC 386 clone, and wants to convert all his Excel spreadsheets over (rather
than -- AAAAUGH! -- retyping them all).
Obviously, he should be able to import them into Excel for MS-DOS; but
he'd like to know all his options. Would he be able to import them into
any other spreadsheet programs? Supercalc? 1-2-3?

And, while we're on the subject...

I've got a fair amount of spreadsheet data in AppleWorks, in whatever goofy
format AppleWorks saves its stuff in. I want to get it over to my PC running
Excel. AppleWorks will save files in DIF format, and I can port the DIF
file over to the PC, but I can't get Excel to read the DIF files.

Anybody done this before? Is there some wacko utility I have to run?

Thanks
Andy
