After working for about 2 months, my machine refuses to boot from the hard disk. I tried everything that I could think of, but nothing works. Finally I found out that the boot sector is bad. My question is: How do I format the disk, bypassing that bad sector? It is possible? I must mention that I used the Seagate utility software to locate the bad sector and map it out, but the hard disk still refuses to boot! Please help! This is urgent! ***/\/\****/\/\******/\/\****/\* Saiid Paryavi **/*/\*\**/*/\*\****/*/\*\**/*/* paryavi@ksuvax1.cis.ksu.edu */*/**\*\/*/**\*\**/*/**\*\/*/** paryavi@ksuvax1.BITNET *\/****\/\/****\*\/\/****\/\/*** {pyramid,ucsd}!ncr-sd!ncrwic!ksuvax1!paryavi

The boot track is the one part of the disk that you can't flaw out and substitute. If it's bad, you can't boot from the disk drive. Are you sure that's the problem? If you're using OnTrack software supplied by Seagate, it's full of bugs. Confirm your problem some other way.
