[comp.sys.ibm.pc] PC clones and IBM Token Ring cards

chris@cs.columbia.edu (Chris Maio) (12/06/88)

Does anyone out there know the details of compatibility problems between AT
clones and IBM's PC/AT token ring cards? I've heard that this card doesn't
work in some clones because it requires a couple of wait states but doesn't
implement the bus interface properly. Are there any clones that are known
to work with the IBM TR cards?

The computer store at Carnegie-Mellon claims to have a list of clones
known to work. I'd like to see the list (the store was closed the last
time I was in Pittsburgh).

Could someone from CMU please post the list, if it's not much trouble.
Thanks in advance.

I know that they work in Compaq's, Zenith, and also in a "no-name" clone
that we had (We got rid of it for other reasons). I'd think if you set
the switches on the card to reflect the proper interrupt vectors that
you should be ok (granted, this doesn't cover every SINGLE clone!).
