I don't think that I can answer all of you questions, but the Novell 286/A server in my office (the company I work for in NYC -- not CMU), had this problem of crashing. First of all, NEVER EVER leave a connector hanging if every possible. Second, if you have two-way radio in the office, make sure that you have very well shielding on the enternet wires. The ones that come with the cards are terrible with RF, they only do the minimal amount of shielding. Also, make sure that the GROUND on the terminator is TRULY GROUNDED (check the location of the ground that its either a cold water pipe or a TRUE EARTH GROUND on a electrical outlet. Third, the FAT errors you get are because of the crashes. That's normal. Programs (especially dBase & Clipper compiled code) allocates disk space BEFORE writing to the disk. Now when the server crashes, these FAT entries are marked as being in use and NOT closed so the FAT table doesn't get updated. I hope this answers some of your questions. Please send me carbons of your posts, as I do not check this bboard too often. Thanks in advance. -- J. Chin (a.k.a.
