I have a VAX (4.3BSD Unix) connected to an Apple LaserWriter Plus. We also generate PostScript files from Windows/386. If I transfer the Windows/386 PostScript file to the VAX and then lpr it to the printer, it prints just fine. If I take and send an Adobe generated PostScript file (ptroff) to the printer, it too works ok. Except, if the ptroff PostScript file is sent to the printer after the Windows/386 PostScript file (while the yellow light is still double blinking), the ptroff file will print about 1/4th the size, upside down and mirrored. The ptroff file will not print correctly unless the printer is master reset (powered down then up) or by waiting until the double flashing stops. If I send the ptroff file and then the Windows file, both print ok. If I send the ptroff file right away after the first two, it prints wrong. Does anybody know what the hell is wrong? I know it may be tough without seeing any of the PostScript files, but any ideas would be helpful. Also, does anyone have a little PostScript program that can be output to the LaserWriter that will reset it before the double blinking timeout? I could try and incorporate it into standard ptroff header that is created. Thanks in advance. -- harvard-\ att--\ Vidiot ucbvax!uwvax!astroatc!nicmad!brown rutgers-/ decvax--/ ARPA/INTERNET: brown%nicmad.UUCP@spool.cs.wisc.edu
