Someoner inquired about how to scoll & pan (i.e., "scroll" sideways) on a EGA | VGA. I haven't been able to keep up with the backlog in this group -- postings disappear before I get to them -- but I didn't see any answers to the inquiry. See Andrew J. Chalk: "EGA and VGA: Smooth Scrolling and Panning", _Dr. Dobbs Journal_, vol. 13, iss. 12, December 1988, p. 62. The article includes code for a "smooth browser" for text files. C code is supplied that is claimed to be usable under MSC 5.0+, Turbo C, WatCom C, MIX Power C v1.1+. The code was written by Magna Carta Software, developer|marketer of the C Windows Toolkit. I have no experience with their products. The source code is copyrighted. Despite the copyright, source code for *all* articles in the entire issue is available on a floppy disk for $14.95 from Dr. Dobbs Journal, 501 Galveston Dr., Redwood City, CA 94063 or call 415/366-3600x221. Specify issue and disk format. I have not tried the package, but I wanted that code for the future (like for when I get a VGA). I have no connection with Magna Carta. I have no connection with _Dr. Dobbs_ other than refereeing a submitted article or 2 many years ago. -- [The foregoing may or may not represent the position, if any, of my employer] Clay Phipps {ingr,pyramid,sri-unix!hplabs}!garth!phipps Intergraph APD, 2400#4 Geng Road, Palo Alto, CA 93403 415/494-8800
