I use a 12MHz 0 wait clone with EGA, but recently used a 12MHz 0 wait that had a Herc-compatible mono display. The MONO machine seems FASTER than the EGA machine when writing to the screen ("dir" was used for comparison). The difference isn't that noticable, sort of like the difference between a terminal at 9600 baud and one at 19200 baud. The BIOS is the same for both machines. DOes anyone have an explanation? Are EGA boards slightly slower than MONO boards? I might add that with other sofware, there is no noticeable difference. Generic DOS functions are where I noticed the difference. -- Kevin Tubbs, 5152 Upson, Cornell University, Ithaca NY, 14853 (607) 255-8703 kevin@calvin.ee.cornell.edu {uunet, rochester}!cornell!calvin!kevin
