[comp.sys.ibm.pc] Fortran under MS-DOS

I am posting this query for a friend (a botanist). He works in a
research institution, where they do all their work in Fortran on Vaxen
(11/750, VMS).  They now have decided to move part of the work to AT-
or PS/2-compatibles.

What Fortran compilers are available for MS-DOS machines? Any info on
price, performance, features, disadvantages, etc. is greatly
appreciated. Availability in Europe through regular (non-mail-order)
channels would not be required but helpful.

I presume this kind of question is posted rather often (I usually
don't read comp.lang.fortran), so please reply by email. If there is
interest, I will summarize etc. etc.
