I was wondering which piece of hardware is most suspect in the following situation. I have two hard disks run from the same controler, one 32MB and one 41MB. The smaller disk fails intermittantly and my diagnostic program reports the following errors: RANDOM SEEK FAILED Write fault. FORWARD SEEK FAILED Bad command received by controller. These errors always occur on Head:0 Sector:1 with various Cylinders. My diagnostic program suggests first the controller then the hard disk as the culprit but I'm wondering if any of you netters out there have more enlightening ideas about the problem. One puzzling thing is that the disk seems to work ok after I run the diagnostics a few times. Then later it gets flakey again.
