The controller can handle it, it's your BIOS that can't.

Find a company (like Speedstor) that makes products to break this barrier.
SpeedStor is about $90 or so, and includes a killer formatter and 
diagnostics.

The WD1003 series should be usable to 2048 cyls X 15 heads if you can get 
the driver software to make it work.
