[comp.sys.ibm.pc] things;micro emacs;ST238 mounting....

Interesting; I am gone for 3 and 1/2 weeks and 807 messages piled up. What
a rush, man.

But seriously, 2 questions at the immediate moment:

1) Could someone mail me a Turbo C make file for Micro Emacs? I have not
the time to translate the provided one myself.

That one was easy; this one is a zinger.

2) Which direction is up on a Seagate ST238 30meg drive? I thought I was okay;
I had mounted mine as the JDR installation manual shows -- casing up and
resistor pack/circuit board down. But while I was home, I was at 4 different
sites, eachof which use 10+ ST238's. Upon inspection (I used to work there),
I noticed that at two of the sites, they drives were installed electronics
down. When I inquired, they hauled out their "Universal installation Guide"
and sure enough, it shows the drive electronics up, at least in the diagram
showing cable connection. Really odd thing is the drives seemed quieter
when mounted electronics up, and those two instalations have had zero, none,
nada failures in 6+ months. Can someone tell me what the hell is up?

Oh yeah, the drives were all (at least as far as I could check) formatted
in their mounted positions.

Again, can someone tell me what the ^&*%&* is up?

Chris
