[alt.fax may not be available at all sites, so edit the Newsgroups line.] I'm looking for information on fax boards (send only, I guess) for ms-dos systems. In particular, these are the sorts of things I would like to be able to do: - send ascii text in an attractive font to a remote fax machine - send bitmaps (tiff, gif, or other format) in greyscale to a remote fax - keep a dialing directory of remote sites by name - invoke the sending program from the command line somewhat like as follows: fax -file c:\pix\diagram.gif -format gif -to fax.cc.umich.edu where fax.cc.umich.edu is a number in my dialing directory The target application is to use a machine running doubledos and KA9Q to act as an SMTP to FAX outbound gateway. --Ed Edward Vielmetti, U of Michigan Computing Center electronic communication group fax # 313-763-4434

Gammafax probably fits the bill, as well. i'm not sure about Panafax or The Complete Fax. >The target application is to use a machine running doubledos and KA9Q >to act as an SMTP to FAX outbound gateway. doubledos shouldn't be necessary with any of the boards which support background operation... i wonder if it would cause a problem with some of the built in background stuff included with some PC-Fax boards... (it's a key feature!) Edward, i'll fax you a picture of my cat... using command line switches something like: fax -p13137634434 -icat(0,1) > -- Steve Elias (eli@spdcc.com) ((617 239 9406)) (((617 890 6844))) ()
