There are plenty of so-so "hd-on-a-card" products out there. But now-
adays 3 1/2 inch products are reaching very respectable performance levels.
E.g., the Prodrive 80 offers 50K hr MTBF, built-in 64K cache, 10 MBPS data
rate, and average seek of 19 mSec. (40 mSec full stroke). Topped off with
very low power req (8 watts idling), low operating noise level, and a 2 yr
warranty. Makes me wonder why I still put up with full-height 5 1/4 drives
with their attendant noise, heat, and bulk. Historically, the answer is
cost and reliability- but the writing is on the wall...
So, the question: is anyone offering hard disk cards using Q80's? The
originator of the hard card idea, Plus Development, is a subsidiary of
Quantum, so such a product may indeed exist.

The Prodrive series is a SCSI based series of products. We at Tandy
have those products available. I don't know of a hard card using
this HD, but anything is possible.
