Has anyone else tried ordering a modem from KISS engineering? I ordered one
last month and still haven't received it yet (I have, however, received the
canceled check!). When I called early last week, the guy I talked to seemed
very apologetic, and said it would be shipped Thursday, Friday at the latest
UPS Blue (he made a big deal it would be at their expense). That was over a
week ago ... still no modem, so I called them up again today. The same story,
but this time the estimate was "a couple of days", again UPS Blue at their
expense, and oh by the way, quit calling us about it.
Do these guys really have any modems to sell? I could have bought any number
of internal 2400B modems during this period and had them installed by now.
Their ad claims COD orders shipped the same day ... I guess once they have
your money they don't feel the urgent need to ship.
Their ad states they don't accept credit cards. I thought it might be because
they mainly do mail order (which is why the company my wife and I have doesn't
accept credit cards) ... I'm not so sure now ... at least if I'd used a credit
card I could refuse to pay if the product hadn't been shipped yet.
I'd sure never place another order with them. All my other mail order dealings
have invariably been good. It's too bad some places insist on taking your
money when they don't have anything to sell.
