I've written a simple menu program in BASIC that makes it very easy for my kids to pick their favorite programs and run them without daddy having to do the ms-dos dance every few minutes. The trouble is that some programs are not good citizens, they leave the keyboard in a very wierd state. The key map is changed. The actions of the caps lock and num lock keys are changed. I'm not sure what else is changed. I need a program, a BASIC command, an ms-dos command, or even some magic pokes, anything that will put the keyboard back in its start up state. I notice that these programs DON'T have this effect when run directly from the command line interpreter, so there must be some way of reseting the keyboard. Thanks for any information. Bob P. P.S. The ms-dos dance is the act of dropping whatever you're doing, running over to the computer, typing in a couple of commands, and trying to get back to what you were doing before the kids decide to change to another program. Just one of the hazards of letting preschoolers use your computer. -- Bob Pendleton, speaking only for myself.
