I received many requests for this back in October so I have decided to post this. The seven parts that follow comprise some free software for evaluating the 29000 32-bit RISC processor. Included are an architectural simulator which runs on the PC and an (obsolete) assembler as well as a compiled dhrystone binary which you can run on the arch. sim. The purpose of the arch. sim. is to allow modeling different memory systems, varying number of wait states, etc, to see how much cost you must spend to get the performance your application needs. Please note that this software is both free and obsolete. It's intended for you to play with, and that's all. There is no support given, especially from me. The assembler format is obsolete, we switched over to an incompatible one years ago. The arch. sim. which is included does not have support for 29K features introduced since it was written. (we have current arch sims but this is not one of them.) If you try this out and like it, there is information included on how to get the real stuff, such as Metaware or Green Hills C compilers. (gcc, as well as 4.3 BSD will be available for it, but there are no firm procedures or schedules yet.) This posting is merely a duplicate of what is available on the BIX service, and I have made no alterations to it at all. We have a marketing guy who would love to hear from you. (I am probably too busy to help out much, witness this Jan posting to the Oct letters) His name is Brett Stewart, brett@amd.com. -- Phil Ngai, phil@diablo.amd.com {uunet, decwrl, ucbvax}!amdcad!phil "In Texas, they run the red light after it turns red." I am disappointed in you, Phil. I thought that you knew better than to post binaries to comp.sys.ibm.pc. Anyway, be advised that it ISN'T going into the archives at Clarkson, so everyone who wants it better suck it up right now. -- --russ (nelson@clutx [.bitnet | .clarkson.edu]) "I saved the whales!" - Rebecca L.
