Thanks for the info about running NFS on IBM pc's. The original question and the original answers. Thanks to all... Joe Barello Lawrence Livermore Laboratories Does anyone know of work done connecting PC\AT\PS2 machines to networks compatible with NFS. Are there any commercial packages, previous portable effort, documentation or cookbooks on the subject? ! ! ! PC-NFS from Sun is the obvious way. I have Sun's PC-NFS running on my PC/AT. It works fine, however, the PC can only be a client, not a server. That is, the PC can access a Unix or VMS system's disks as if they were on the PC, but the Unix system cannot access the PC's disks. The package also includes telnet, ftp, rcp, and rsh. I think it runs on PS2 machines now but I'm not sure. Sun sells a nice client implementation of NFS called PC-NFS. It costs $395, quantity 1. Lots of people say that it works. Call 1-800-334-SUNM. FTP Software, purveyors of PC TCP/IP software, have an NFS implementation in the works, to be released some time this summer. They're at 617 868 4878. END OF SHOW.
