[comp.sys.ibm.pc] seeking clues

csa@wpi.wpi.edu (Chris Arthur) (02/07/89)

I need clues on a few things:

I am trying to port bison (the Gnu Yacc) to my pc, using Turbo C 2.0.
The results have been less than encouraging; it keeps crashing, apparently
in different places, but (I think) generally in a loop with a lot of getc's
from one file or another. Has anyone else successfully ported bison (the
november 7th version) to a pc xt or similar machine? Does anyone have any
idea what is happening? This is tough to debug as I have to turn off my
machine every time...

I know this was mentioned before, but I don't think I saw an answer (of
course, there may have been one that I missed, as news at my site is new
and somewhat hacked): is there really an existing solution to the "unusual"
placement of the capslock and control keys on the enhanced keyboard? I was
planning to write one, but it will be pretty hairy and I'd rather not. If
one exists, how can I get it? (I can ftp from somewhere, but where?)

Last, and most important: is there an existing (and preferably cheap or
free) program that will let me access the hard drive on another computer as
if it were on mine (say, drive d:)? It has to work over the serial port,
and it can't exclude access to the other computer...the best thing would be
if I could use the other system's c: as my d: and it use my c: as its d:.
I realize this is asking a bit, and any reasonably equivalent solutions would
be welcome. Unfortunately, solutions requiring, say, ethernet, or costing
> $500 or so are out of my range...

Please reply to csa@wpi.wpi.edu, or csa@wpi.bitnet...
