Hi. I have encountered several Prima hard disk drives which use a special device driver (EVDR.SYS, I think) and special partitioning software. The mnnual says they use a special system for partitioning and formatting and very strongly warn you not to use other software for this, including DOS's FDISK and FORMAT. I've also seen other hard disk management products that warn you not to use them with these Priam drives. I've played them enough to confirm that they are indeed strange. Anybody know exactly what's going on with them...how they're formatting and partitioning systme differs from the "normal". I would guess that they're using the landing zone track for something special and that the controller needs (many third party programs use the landing zone cylindar for testing and other things). But that's only a guess. -- John Wright ////////////////// Phone: 902-424-3805 or 902-424-6527 Post: c/o Dr Pat Lane, Biology Dept, Dalhousie U, Halifax N.S., CANADA B3H-4H8 Cdn/Eannet:lane@cs.dal.cdn Uucp:lane@dalcs.uucp or {uunet watmath}!dalcs!lane Arpa:lane%dalcs.uucp@uunet.uu.net Internet:lane@cs.dal.ca
