Here are three questions I would like to have answers: 1. Sometimes when formating a 3.5 diskette, I got a message 'general failure' or 'the first sector is bad, disk unusable'. Then I just hit return to 'format another diskette' or take the disk out, rotate the diskette with respect to its case and then put it back. This usually works out the problem. And often every byte on the diskette is good. But what went worng? Is the diskette less perfect than others? They look alright: new diskettes, clean and phsycially sound. 2. Any netter out there tried to use a DS/DD 3.5 diskette (720k) as a DS/HD one (1.44M)? I tried and it turns out alright for me so far. But I do not know how much risk of losing data I am running. Does Anybody know the safty margine of capacity for a DS/DD 3.5 diskette? 3. I am using IBM PS/2 30/286, which has a VGA and a monochrome display. The problem is many software assumes a color display. Some colors are almost black on the mono display. Is there a program to intercept the data sent to the display and change them to gray scales within visible range? Thanks in advance. Mingqi
