[comp.sys.ibm.pc] Windows vs Windows 286

warren@psu-cs.UUCP (Warren Harrison) (02/05/89)

I currently have a copy of Windows 2.0. I noticed a copy of "Windows 286",
Version 2.1 at our bookstore last week and was wondering if I should buy it.
Does it give me any additional functionality over my current version of
Windows? I know that Windows 386 allows me to create virtual 8086 processes,
but can't imagine Windows 286 can do that on a 286. Thanks in advance.

Warren

The Sept 88 Computer Shopper has an article about the new
features. I didn't see anything very startling. Of course it
depends on what you're waiting for.

* they have a "driver" to use 50K of high memory space.

*more printers and plotters

*easier installation

Other differences b/w Windows 2.03 & 2.10:

1) (Supposedly) More efficient memory allocation.

2) ...Faster... (follows somewhat from #1)
