Has anyone had any experience with the Compu Com Corporation (CCC) 2400-bps modem? I found it advertised for only $95 and it had a reasonable review in the January '89 issue of Byte magazine. I have the Compu-Com 2400 baud modem, and I have only had a problem with one BBS, at Stanford. I suspect the problem is with the BBS, because I've called all over the country over some pretty noisy lines and have transfered files with no problems. The modem is quite satisfactory. Their new ad features another modem for $20 more that automatically matches its impedence to match the line. I've never needed service, but I've heard that they give excellent service.

I have a CCC 2400 baud modem and wanted to say something about their
service. I ordered a modem from them and it came (took about 3 weeks just
like they said it would). When I got it, it did not work at all. I tried
many things with no luck. So I called them up; the guy on the phone asked
me a few questions to determine whether I was just having a standard 'did not
RTFM manual' and then said "I'll ship you a new modem out today. Keep that
one until you get the new one, then keep whichever one you want that works
best and send the other one back." I was stunned when the new modem arrived
4 days later. Works great, I have had no problems at all with it. I'll give
anybody a chance to make good on sending me a bad product (usually the
replacement comes by camel caravan via Constantinople), and these guys were
really good. I'm impressed with their service.
