[comp.sys.ibm.pc] OS/2???

Does anyone out ther REALLY use OS/2???
I have heard of sooooo many drawbacks and have only seen it mentioned in
passing here so I thought I'd pose this...

What does people say to throwing off the shackles of DOS for somthing more
useful, say UNIX? From my (thin) understanding of UNIX and my slimmer
understanding of OS/2 (and my discust for DOS) I have begun to search
for a NEW os.

This obviously is has serious ramifications (rendering useless my
library of DOS playthings like compilers and spreadsheets) but I feel the
time is right. MINIX is the first real place I have looked (shells for
DOS don't count...perhaps they should?) is ther more unrest out
there in pc land or will this rebellion die with me?

Sure, I use OS/2. But it doesn't do much good unless you also have
Microsoft C 5.1 and, possibly, LAN Manager. There isn't very much
software out there that runs under OS/2 and many DOS programs (the
ones that doink with interrupts, hardware, etc) will not run under
the compatibility mode. So... you've got to roll your own....
